PHYSICAL ACTIVITY POLICIES; SCHOOL HEALTH ADVISORY COUNCIL INFORMATION. Borger ISD has a local policy concerning the wellness of our students and staff. These policies may be viewed by going to our policy online. · Use the following steps to search the Borger ISD Board Policy Online Manual · Click this link (policy on line) · Enter Word or Phrase “wellness” under search all policies District policies (see EHAB and EHAC) ensure that elementary school, intermediate school, and middles school students engage in at least 30 minutes per school day or 135 minutes per school week of physical activity. · Student Welfare (see FFA): Wellness and Health Services Current campus physical activities: · Paul Belton Early Childhood Center provides daily a minimum of 30 minutes of physical activity through recess, sensory motor lab, music and P.E. class. · Crockett Elementary provides daily 30 minutes of physical activity through recess, music or P.E. class. · Gateway Elementary provides daily 30 minutes of physical activity through recess, music or P.E. class. · Borger Intermediate provides daily a minimum of 45 minutes of physical activity through recess, Band, or P.E. class. · Borger Middle School provides 45 minutes of physical activity through Band, or P.E. class. Students must complete 2 P.E. credits in middle school. Parent’s may request in writing their child’s physical fitness assessment results at the end of the school year. The district’s SHAC(school health advisory council) meets annually. They met on January 16, 2008 for the 07-08 school year. · January , 2008 agenda / minutes District policies to ensure compliance with applicable vending machine and food service guidelines for restricting student access to vending machines (see BDF).
